Meeting Report
The October meeting was preceded by the Annual General
Meeting. Since the AGM the club is in need of a Secretary & a
Treasurer. I would encourage all members, especially newer members to
consider these positions. They are valuable to the club and are fairly
easy to do. Without them the club will not be as effective as it has
been in the past in its role of bringing builders together and liaising
with the Department of Planning & Infrastructure and the
engineering signatories. The relatively stable environment that we have
at the moment is a vast contrast to the isolated efforts of individual
builders to make sense of an often confusing situation that existing in
the past and the SBCWA is largely responsible for it. We have been able
to achieve a credibility that smooths the way for builders in WA in a
way that does not exist in other states. If you want this situation to
continue you need to consider sparing some time to taking some notes
for the club or managing our somewhat insubstantial cash flow.
You don't need to be an experienced old hand as Barrie and the other
Committee members will help out. Think about it.
One of the more time consuming of my past tasks has been taken over by
the lovely Doug. As new webmaster he will take over as soon as I have
completed arrangements to forward on the web site details. No doubt he
will take my crude renderings and beat some style & substance into
them!
An ordinary meeting followed the AGM. Build progress by members has
slowed a bit but several projects are (still) under way. As always this
time of the year the most important decision is the where and when of
the Xmas Meet. As usual it will be a Barries place in Blair Rd in
Oakford. It will be on the 30th of November. The Car Club sign will be
out the front but watch for middle aged car enthusiasts behaving in a
disgraceful manner. As usual there will be the barbecue lunch. Spouses
& significantg others welcome. Non members pay $10 for nosh, soft
drinks and maybe a ride. Non members who come bearing a kit or build
vehicle to demo eat free. No, your XR6 doesn't qualify.
